How to Organize your Pack

A well-organized backpack can make all the difference between an exhilarating 10K hike and an uncomfortable, painful, long walk. By organizing your pack properly, you’ll avoid discomfort and finding yourself searching for that essential item at the very bottom of your bag.

Étape 1 : Préparez tous vos articles à emporter

Take some time to do a full inventory of everything you need for your trip. If you’re hiking in a group, make sure to share the load by designating common items, such as a tent.

Étape 2 : Utilisez des sacs étanches

Most camping packs are water resistant but not waterproof. It’s a great idea to store your items in dry packs inside your pack, in case of a storm or if your bag goes overboard.

Create a round centre of gravity by packing heavy items such as food and water supply and cooking gear in the middle of your pack close to your spine. Wrap them in soft cushioning to provide your back support and keep yourself stable.

Étape 5 : Rangez le matériel que vous utilisez souvent dans le haut du sac.

Be sure you keep everything you reach for often in the top of your pack. This could include but may not be limited to your compass, sunscreen, map, light source, first-aid kit, toilet paper, bug spray, and sanitation trowel. Keep your rain gear accessible for unpredictable weather. You will also want to pack ample snacks to keep you energized while exploring.
